SXSW won’t be the only be the only buzz coming from Austin’s East Side come this March. East Side Show Room Chef and Owner Sonya Cote’s hotly anticipated new specialty grocery and eatery Hillside Farmacy is expected to open its doors just in time for the annual invasion.

For Cote, the farm to table movement is not just the latest culinary craze; it’s at the very core of her as a chef. She first opened East Side Show Room in 2009 with a steadfast allegiance to only utilizing locally sourced ingredients. With a firm mission to promote a food revolution in place, Chef Cote founded The Homegrown Revival in summer 2011 to spread education through a series of locally sourced dinners across the state. Once open, Hillside Farmacy will continue celebrating local ingredients and culinary artisans throughout breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There will also be specialty tea service.

As evident by pictures showcasing Hillside Farmacy’s construction progress, the new spot is an ode to mom and pop pharmacy diners of yesteryear reinvented to embrace the eclectic, artistic character of its East Side location. Along with morning coffee from Portland's Stumptown, Belgian beers, and evening cocktails, early details suggest offerings will include a daily dose of oysters, fromage, charcuterie, and more. Sounds like Hillside Farmacy might just be what the doctor ordered.

Hillside Farmacy will be located at 1209 East 11th Street, Austin, Texas 78702. Expect a March 2012 opening.
