Rick Perry is #1! (at killing people...)
Now that Rick Perry is safely back home where we can keep an eye on him, he's wasting no time jumping back into the role of governor. Just one week after suspending his campaign, Perry is about to oversee his 239th execution, making him the number one governor for executions ever!
Tonight, the state is set to execute Rodrigo Hernandez who was convicted of the 1994 rape and murder of a San Antonio woman. Investigators in Michigan have also used DNA evidence to link Hernandez to the 1991 murder of a woman in Grand Rapids. Because he is on death row in Texas, prosecutors in Michigan will not put Hernandez on trial.
With news outlets speculating on Perry's political viability as governor and polls showing his approval rating below President Obama's, this latest superlative probably couldn't have come at a worse time for ol' Ricky. But we for one are glad to have the governor back. It was hard for us the past few months, watching Perry getting beat up and made fun of. It's sort of like watching a family member getting made fun of by someone outside the family. "Hey, he may be a weirdo, but he's our weirdo." And, hey, at least he's number one at something.
