Longhorns Around the Web
Each Friday, we'll be offering up a sampling of Longhorn- and Big 12-related sports coverage making its way around the Web.

- Screwup Watch '09: Kickoff return specialist DJ Monroe was arrested and charged with DWI last Sunday morning, and has been suspended indefinitely by Texas Coach Mack Brown. Monroe had returned two kickoffs for touchdowns so far this season, and kickoff return duties will likely be passed along to Jordan Shipley for this week's game.
- Kansas coach Mark Mangino has been in some hot water lately as allegations have come out regarding his treatment of current and former Jayhawk players. Kansas athletic director Lew Perkins is looking into the allegations, but after the Jayhawks dissapointing season, it may be that Perkins is simply looking for reasons to dismiss Mangino.
- What's this? Basketball season already? For starters, here's Coach Rick Barnes talking about his hopes for the upcoming season.
- This week's pick: The Longhorns covered last week's 25-point spread against the Bears about halfway through the second quarter. This week's 28-point line shouldn't be any more difficult, considering the turmoil surrounding the struggling Jayhawks in recent weeks. Not to mention it will be the final home game for Colt McCoy, Jordan Shipley, Sergio Kindle, and the rest of the Texas seniors.
- From Brown, tipping his cap to Colt and the other seniors: "Colt tied for the most number of wins by any quarterback in college football history, which is really significant. I did not realize that he is the only quarterback to lead his team to 10-plus wins each of the four years, and that again is a phenomenal stat when you start looking at what he's done. The seniors and Colt have 42 wins. The '05 seniors and the '08 seniors have 45 wins, so they've still got some work to do to be the winningest class in the history of Texas football."
- Kind of like Mike Gundy's rant, this should really be revisited before any matchup with a Mark Mangino-coached team.
